Nominalization



What is Nominalization?
Nominalization is a common feature of technical writing. By making your sentence more simple, nominalization makes your text more academic. In other words, it means convertion of verb and adjective to noun. See these examples:

select > selection
educated > education

  • Not all the sentences in your text can be nominalized. It is for sentences with causative, concession or temproal relations.
  • Avoid too many nominalization inside your text!

    What is Nominalization?

    Nominalization means convertion of verb and adjective to noun:

    select -> selection

    educated -> education


    Example:

    She was selected because she is educated

    1. Her selection was because of her education

    2. Her education caused her selection
